Springlord (Campaign Class)

Prime Requisite: WIS
Requirements: None
Hit Dice: 1d6
Maximum Level: 14

Springlords and -ladies are priests and priestesses of Lathander, responsible for the welfare of communities. They are found everywhere, but particularly in rural areas, where they administer to the common folk. They are known as skilled healers, and though not as glorious as the martial Morninglords, they are often more popular and well-loved.

Springlords advance in attack throws and saving throws by two points every four levels of experience. At first level, springlords hit an unarmored foe (AC 0) with an attack throw of 10+. They are trained to fight using clubs, saps, slings, and staffs, and can fight using a weapon and shield or wielding a weapon two-handed. They can wear armor up to chain mail. Springlords can use magic items usable by clerics.

Springlords have the ability to turn undead, just as standard clerics.

Starting at 2nd level (Sun Soul), springlords may cast divine spells, as standard clerics. When a springlord reaches 5th level (Spring Priest), he may begin to research spells, scribe scrolls, and brew potions as a cleric. At 9th level (High Springlord), he is able to create more powerful magic items such as weapons, rings, and staffs. At 11th level, a springlord may learn and cast rituals spells of great power (6th and 7th level), and craft magical constructs such as golems and animated statues.

Each springlord is a skilled physicker, able to treat 4 patients per day and earn 50gp per month working as a healer. They can identify mundane or magical diseases and diagnose mundane diseases with a proficiency throw of 7+, and can neutralize poison, cure disease, or cure light wounds with a proficiency throw of 18+, once per day per patient. They can also use healing herbs. They can improve their ability by taking the Healing proficiency (becoming chirurgeons).

Springlords follow a code of conduct that obliges them to be charitable, to help the needy and heal the sick and wounded, to defend the weak, and to hunt and destroy the undead. They are expected to foster the arts and to bless new ventures—whether weddings, spring plantings, construction of new buildings, or the beginnings of long journeys.

Upon attaining 9th level (High Springlord), a springlord may establish or build a fortified church. So long as the springlord is currently in favor with his order, he may buy or build his fortified church at half the normal price due to the help of fervent worshippers. Once a fortified church is established, the springlord's reputation will spread and he will attract 5d6×10 0th level soldiers armed with various weapons, plus another 1d6 springlords of 1st – 3rd level of the same religion to serve the order. They are completely loyal (morale +4). While in the springlord's service, his followers must be provided food and lodging, but need not be paid wages. The Judge determines which proportions of followers are archers, infantry, etc.
