The Olin Gisiae (singular Olin Gisir), or Secret Keepers, are an order of elven mages dedicated to exploring and protecting the secrets of the ancient elven empires and kingdoms. They are a hidden order, appearing little different from other elven mages, but they serve a very particular purpose: they know the deepest, darkest secrets of ancient elven High Mages, and guard the world against them. They know where demons are bound and terrible weapons or secret tomes are hidden, and they reinforce and maintain the defenses and magic bindings that keep them locked away.

Secret keepers advance in attack throws and saving throws as mages, by two points every six levels of experience. At first level, secret keepers hit an unarmored foe (AC 0) with an attack throw of 10+. They are trained to fight with clubs, daggers, darts, and staves, and can fight wielding a weapon two-handed. They cannot wear armor or use shields. Secret keepers can use magic items usable by mages.

Secret keepers can learn and cast arcane spells and engage in magic research exactly as mages of their level.

As part of their studies, secret keepers come to possess loremastery, which allows them to decipher occult runes, remember ancient history, identify historic artifacts, and similar tasks. At 1sth level, a secret keeper must make a proficiency throw of 18+ on 1d20 to succeed in these tasks. The proficiency throw required reduces by 1 per level.

Starting at 3rd level (Veiled Delver), the secret keeper has mastered forgotten lore which allows him to turn undead as a cleric of half his level (rounded up). In addition, the effects of any protection spells (such as protection from evil, dispel magic, and globe of invulnerability) cast by the keeper are calculated as if the keeper were 2 levels higher. Any saving throws against such spells cast by the keeper are at a -2 penalty.

Starting at 5th level (Occult Chronicler), the secret keeper can read signs and portents to foretell the possible results of a course of action (as the spell augury cast at their level). These readings can be done once per hour, with a casting time of 1 turn.

Starting at 7th level (Mythic Annalist), the secret keeper learns ancient words of power, and adds the following spells to his spell list (but not automatically to his repertoire) as arcane spells at the indicated levels:

Elves gain a +1 bonus to surprise rolls when in the wilderness due to their attunement to nature. Elves have keen eyes that allow them to detect hidden and secret doors with a proficiency throw of 8+ when actively searching, or 14+ on casual inspection. Because of their connection to nature, elves are completely unaffected by the paralysis ghouls can inflict, and the target values for all their saving throws versus Petrification/Paralysis and Spells are reduced by 1. Elves can speak the Common, Elven, Gnoll, Hobgoblin, and Orc languages.

Upon reaching 9th level (High Keeper), a secret keeper can build a sanctum, often repairing a tower or temple in an ancient elven ruin. He will then attract 1d6 apprentices of 1st – 3rd level plus 2d6 elves seeking to become secret keepers. Their Intelligence and Wisdom scores will be above average, but many will become discouraged from the rigorous mental training and quit after 1d6 months. While in the secret keeper's service, apprentices must be provided food and lodging, but need not be paid wages. If the secret keeper builds a dungeon beneath or near his tower, monsters will start to arrive to dwell within, followed shortly by adventurers seeking to fight them.
