Sages say the world is governed by two cosmic powers: Law and Chaos.
Law is order, civilization, purpose, and controlled creation. In practice, it represents mankind and demi-human societies (like dwarves and elves), and the deities these folk worship, like the Ten Gods (see below).
Chaos is destruction, entropy, aimless creation, and freedom of limitation—often leading to dissolution and amorality. It stands foremost for demon princes and lords, like the Black Hand, the Dark Sun, or the Webspinner, but anyone who works against Law—even intentionally, such as bandits and barbarians—can be viewed as an instrument of Chaos.
